An E-learning Environment Based on Oraganizational Memories

Within the MEMORAe project, we see a course unit as an organization in which different actors are involved. These actors produce documents, information and knowledge that they often share. We propose the concept of “learning organizational memory” which we think as being particularly adapted to an e-learning situation. Such a memory makes educational resources of all kinds more accessible: resources are capitalized and better indexed in a training context. Using a learning organizational memory needs a specific environment. In this paper we first precise our conception of a learning organizational memory, then we present the collaborative environment ECOGEMO, and how we use it to build and manage the memory of a computer science course attended by engineer students in our university.
